Method

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and melt butter.
  2. In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, egg, and enough flour to form a thick batter that holds its shape when mounded. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Gently fold in any desired optional add-ins.
  4. Shape a quarter of the mixture into a round patty, similar to a burger patty.
  5. Place the patty in the hot pan and slowly brown in the butter, flipping once.
  6. Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy, with a creamy center. Serve immediately.
