Apple & Blackberry Crumble

 

Ingredients

10 oz Cooking Apples
1 oz Butter
1 oz Brown Sugar
4 oz Blackberries
0.25 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Crumble:
4 oz Plain Flour
2 oz Butter at room temperature, cut into pieces
2 oz Caster Sugar
2 oz Flaked Almonds

Method

1.Heat oven to 190°C/Fan 170°C /Gas 5.
2.Mix flour and sugar into a large bowl.
3.Add the butter, then rub into the flour using your fingertips to make a light breadcrumb texture.
4.Add flaked almond.
5.Sprinkle the mixture evenly over a baking sheet and bake for 15 mins or until lightly coloured.
6.For the fruit mixture, peel, core and slice apples.
7.Put the butter and sugar in a medium saucepan and melt together over a medium heat.
8.Cook for approx 3 mins until the mixture turns to a light caramel consistency.
9.Stir in the sliced apples and cook for 3 mins.
10.Add the blackberries and cinnamon, and cook for a further 3 mins.

To serve

1.Spoon the warm fruit into an ovenproof dish, top with the crumble mix, then place in the oven for 5-10 mins at 190°C/Fan 170°C /Gas 5.
2.Serve with vanilla ice cream.
