Origin of Mulligatawny Soup
09/25/9 at 06:02:34

I am looking for the definitive answer to the question - "W Undecidedhere did Mulligatany Soup originate". On a google search this site listed it as an Irish Soup, however most research says it is Tamil (pepper water), associated with India and the Raj. However a quiz question/answer manual has it listed as Irish in Origin - can anyone point to the real answer, from a credible source - many thanks.

It was always my understanding that this was a british soup from the days of the british empire and this is where the indian connection is. As far as I know this soup was inspired by the the troops who served in india - hence the curry (preservative). It is not an Irish soup. But this is just my understanding. But it is not a soup that is popular in Ireland and certainly not traditionally irish. Hope this helps.
