Blarney Castle Cheese
Pastures Worth Pirating Just outside the
medieval city of Cork is the world-famous Blarney Castle. You probably know this
place for its famous stone, said to impart the gift of eloquence on those who
kiss it. But to Irish cheese lovers, Blarney Castle is ground zero to one of the
world's purest dairy pastures. It's also home to the dairy herds that produce
Kerrygold's Blarney Castle Cheese.
Blarney Castle's original owner, Cormac Láidir "The Strong" MacCarthy, realized
he had a treasure on his hands early on. He built the castle in 1446
specifically to guard against shifty cattle raiders looking to plunder his
exceptional herd.
Naturally Noteworthy
Luckily the fortifications put in place by MacCarthy no longer deter Kerrygold
from making Kerrygold's Blarney Castle. The lush pastures and pristine water
sources give both a wholesome purity that's impossible to match.
Kerrygold's Blarney Castle cheese is an entirely natural semi-soft, part-skim
cheese containing no artificial additives or coloring. Its subtle flavor is
reminiscent of a young gouda.
Relax and Enjoy
Most Irish agree that Blarney Castle cheese is best enjoyed while picnicking
amidst the mystic rock gardens just outside Cork. But if you're not in the area,
try pairing it up with some fresh fruit, an organic wine and a lazy afternoon.
It's semi-soft, crumb-free consistency makes it a perfect choice for eating
while reclined in a hammock.
If the weather doesn't permit al fresco dining, consider substituting Blarney
Castle cheese into your favorite recipe. Its mild flavor and smooth, velvety
texture complements any dish. Melt it onto a fresh-baked spud or shred it into a
steaming bowl of soup for a hearty Irish change of pace.

This cheese is delicious. I recommend it with a crusty bread or hearty crackers. A very mild, smooth taste.
